Finally a Post

So I will finally put a post on my blog, since I have a blog I figure it is really the only thing I can do with it. Anyway, I believe it will be a lot easier to post now that I am in a more enjoyable rotation. I am now doing my internal medicine rotation which has actually turned out to be a internal med/pediatric rotation. My preceptor and his partner both did a double residency in both internal med and pediatrics. I must say I enjoy the latter part so much more. It is so refreshing to leave an 83 yo female patient with a ton of problems and medication issues to go into the next pt room and have a 6 month well child check up. It reminds you that at times there are things neat and wonderful about this world, and that it is not just full of a bunch of vague whiny complainers that I don't feel like I can really help. My preceptor is a really smart guy and he and I have quite a bit in common. I still think I can hook up his four year old son with Emilie in a few years! We have both quoted Monty Python movie lines to each other and he used to be a pro-am bicycle racer.
Of note as well. Alissa and I finished our triathlon that we trained for all summer long. Even though we both had goggle issues during the swim we were able to hit our goals as far as time goes for the event. I even took 3rd place in my age division. (Unofficially, since my timing chip fell off during the run, my time wasn't official.) So although I didn't get a medal, I can still feel good that I remember passing the guy who did! I also need to once again send a very thankful shout out to Julie Cramer for babysitting our three girls at the triathlon and in the rain, while Alissa and I did the race. Thanks Julie, you totally rock! Alissa and I right before the race. (Remember Alissa had to feed Samantha right before we started!)The girls were great sports for us and especially Julie during the race.Me finishing the swim. I saw Emilie and had to stop for a quick kiss before I took off on the bike.
Alissa and I afterwards. I am so proud of her and all her hard work that she does, not only for the race but for our family as well. You are awesome babe...Love you!
